The Erath County grand jury has indicted James Jackson Slade on a first-degree felony murder count in connection with the death of Clifford Rurak.

Slade, 17, was arrested in December on the murder count, and is being held in the Erath County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

The E-T previously reported that a 9-1-1 call had been received after the incident, stating that a man had been shot inside his residence on County Road 264, near Hico.

Sheriff Matt Coates had told the newspaper that there had been a verbal dispute earlier that night. Coates added at that time that Slade and Rurak were reportedly friends who lived on the same property.
