Sky High 14 Black picked up its first tournament championship on the season, defeating ZIVA 14 National in the championship match at the Falls City Festival in Wichita Falls. This is 14 Black’s third championship appearance this season.

Sky High went undefeated on the weekend, defeating 940 14 Black 25-20, 25-15 in the semifinals and sweeping ZIVA 14 National 25-20, 25-14 in the championship. Sky High 14 Black is made up of local athletes from Erath, Hood and Parker counties. Players include Sage Stewart (Stephenville), Jolee Van Dyke (Millsap), Lyla Anderson (Dublin), Kre Hicks (Dublin), Genesis Mendez (Stephenville), Ava Thompson (Stephenville), Raegan Monk (Stephenville), Lexi Whaley (Stephenville), Madison Widmeyer (Aledo), and Rylee Ashley (Millsap). 14 Black is coached by Stephenville resident Dayna Masters.

The 14 Black team is off to Kansas City, Mo. next weekend to compete in the ASICS Show Me National Qualifier. Sky High is one of 100-plus 14 and under teams to compete in the tournament, and the only team from Erath and Hood County. Sky High 14 Black is currently ranked 42nd out of 234 teams in the North Texas Region.

Sky High Volleyball competes locally as a member of the North Texas Region, part of USA Volleyball. Athletes practice in Stephenville and compete locally and nationally.
