Glen Rose High School students took first, second, and fourth place at the 2020 UIL District 7-4A CX Debate meet.

During the district meet, GRHS teams had nine wins and only one loss.

The team of Ayari Araujo Beltran and Paloma Gonzalez went undefeated as did the team of John Hague and Jody Keahey. By making it to the final round, both of these teams qualified for the State Meet on March 19-21 in Austin. The two teams decided not to debate against each other and to let a coin flip determine their district finish. Beltran/Gonzalez won the toss and will represent District 7-4A in Austin as the first seed while Hague/Keahey will go as the second district seed.

The team of Charles Simons and Jacob Merrill finished fourth place with a 3 and 1 record. All three teams upheld the reputation of strong debate teams from Glen Rose High School.

The man behind much of the success is the outstanding debate coach, Mr. Bryan Sowell. Mr. Sowell has now coached 47 state academic UIL qualifiers from Glen Rose High School.
