Dan Harris was sworn in as the city’s next police chief during Tuesday’s meeting of the Stephenville City Council.
Law enforcement officials from across the state attended the meeting to support Harris who has an impressive career in law enforcement. He most recently served as chief of the US Border Patrol Academy.
“Dan brings the possibility of taking our police department to the next level,” said City Manager Alan Barnes. “(Former Chief) Jason King did an outstanding job of developing our PD into a highly-respected department, and Dan’s experience and depth of knowledge, we believe, will get us to the next step.”
Harris is a sixth generation law enforcement officer and the 14th officer in his family.
“People’s eyes light up when they hear ’Stephenville,’” Harris told the E-T during a previous interview. “Coming here has always been a dream of mine.
