Alan Nix is no longer undecided.

The longtime city councilman filed Tuesday to run for another term on the Stephenville City Council, breaking weeks of speculation on what he would do and who might run in his place.

Nix called the E-T shortly before he filed on Tuesday to talk about his decision.

“There are so many projects I have felt like I have helped start and I would like to see some of those projects come to fruition,” Nix said. “I think in the interest of the city it would be better if I stayed. My experience and time of service on the council I think will help me and help the city and help the council move forward.”

The deadline to file for a spot on the May 2 ballot is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14.
