If you need a little extra cash, you might want to consider taking a temporary job with the U.S. Census Bureau.

The department is now hiring local workers to help with the 2020 census in Erath County.

A representative with the company met with city and county officials this week outlining the job perks and spreading the word that more help is needed.

The Census Bureau is looking to hire 857 employees in Erath County and only 269 of those positions are filled.

The job pays $15 per hour and 58 cents a mile, but perhaps the best part of the gig is that you can set your own hours.

Employees are paid weekly and can expect to receive their first paycheck 10 to 14 days after their first day of work.

Interested? Apply online at 2020census.gov/job or call 1-855-562-2020.

You must be 18 years old, a U.S. citizen with a valid social security card and email address and have access to a vehicle.

Training begins in February and the census begins in March.
