A suspect in several investigations in Comanche, Dublin and Stephenville led police on a vehicle pursuit, then foot chase Thursday night before being taken into custody.

Thomas Maurice Johnson, 36, is being held at the Erath County Jail, charged with theft and evading arrest.

Stephenville Assistant Police Chief Jason Halsey said officers received a tip Thursday night that Johnson was staying at the Rodeway Inn.

“When officers arrived at the motel, they found the suspect’s vehicle, but he refused to come out,” Halsey said.

As officers waited in their cars in the parking lot, Thomas exited the motel and left in his truck with officers in pursuit. The chase led to the Bluebonnet Apartments where Thomas fled on foot.

“He was eventually located inside one of the apartments,” Halsey said. “Some friends were hiding him but eventually gave him up.”

Halsey said more charges against Thomas are likely.
