A strong line of thunderstorms that rumbled through North Texas Sunday night and into Monday morning left widespread power outages and damage across Stephenville.

Assistant Police Chief Jason Halsey said the police department and other buildings in town sustained damage.

“There are trees down all over the city,” Halsey said.

As high winds whipped across Erath County into the early morning hours of Monday, an electric pole broke and fell on the roof of State Farm agent David Kincannon’s office on Harbin Street.

Stephenville resident Jenee Beggs said she was at work at Classic Oil Field about 1:45 a.m. Monday when she heard the transformer hit the roof and the pole snap.

Beggs took photos of the damage.

Stephenville resident Becca Mendez sent the E-T several photos of damage to neighborhoods in the areas of Linda Lane and Mockingbird.

The photos included debris, downed trees and damage to a trampoline.

The storms also spawned a tornado in Dallas that caused structural damage and knocked out power to thousands across Dallas. The twister reportedly touched down near Love Field Airport and moved northeast through the city at around 9 p.m., according to the Associated Press.

No serious injuries or deaths have been reported.

The E-T will bring you more information on this developing story.
