Stephenville resident Michael Kohr is celebrating a first-place win at the Imprinted Sportswear Show in Fort Worth with a shirt he designed using one of his unique logos.

The show took place two weeks ago and Kohr learned on Wednesday that he won first in the Most Creative Use of an Embroidered Logo/Mascot with his “Hotrod Monster.”

“The Hotrod Monster was something I just came up with,” he said. “A lot of my work is inspired by Big Daddy Roth,” an artist and custom car designer who created the hot rod icon Rat Fink.

Kohr, 43, was born and raised in Stephenville and is the embroidery manager at Twisted J.

“Before that I was a tattoo artist for 20 years,” he said. “I like to say that I woke up one day and found a better profession.”

Kohr said the first place nod was his first win in the industry.

“I am ecstatic that something I created out of my head will now be nationally publicized,” he said. “Go figure….a small town native making news with his art.”
