A Stephenville woman wanted by police in connection with shooting her ex-boyfriend in the abdomen turned herself in to police Tuesday morning.
Rachel Marie Tuggle, a 23-year-old student at Tarleton State University, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Tuggle called police shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday to report that she had shot her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend, Matthew Thomas Anderson, during a domestic dispute, assistant police chief Jason Halsey said.
“We don’t know what started the dispute,” Halsey said. “She told officers that there was some type of altercation and that she shot him when he came out of one of the rooms.”
The incident took place at Bluebonnet Apartments where Tuggle reportedly lives with her sister.
“When officers arrived on scene they found the victim conscious with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen,” Halsey said. “He was taken to an area hospital where he remains in serious, but stable condition. We have still not had a chance to interview him.
“What we do know is that he was at the apartment with permission.”
Tuggle is being held at the Erath County Jail. Her bond has not been set.
