Stephenville police are asking the public for help locating 23-year-old Rachel Marie Tuggle wanted for allegedly shooting her ex-boyfriend in the abdomen.
Tuggle, a student at Tarleton State University, called police shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday to report that she had shot her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend, Matthew Thomas Anderson, during a domestic dispute, assistant police chief Jason Halsey said.
“We don’t know what started the dispute,” Halsey said. “She told officers that there was some type of altercation and that she shot him when he came out of one of the rooms.”
The incident took place at Bluebonnet Apartments where Tuggle reportedly lives with her sister.
“When officers arrived on scene they found the victim conscious with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen,” Halsey said. “He was taken to an area hospital where he remains in serious, but stable condition. We have still not had a chance to interview him.”
Halsey said Tuggle was expected to turn herself in to authorities on Monday, but has not yet done so.
“We have a warrant for her arrest and she needs to turn herself in,” Halsey told the E-T. “She is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.”
Anyone with information about Tuggle’s whereabouts should call the SPD at 254-918-1273 or Erath County Crime Stoppers at 965-CASH.
Police say Tuggle could be in the Granbury area.
