Candidate Jon Mark Hogg visited with a group of voters at the Burger Joint at Graham Central Station on Saturday.
Hogg is running as a Democrat to represent Texas' 11th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The position is currently occupied by Congressman Mike Conaway, who will not run again in 2020.
Hogg is a resident of San Angelo, where he served on the city council from 2006-10. He has practiced law for over 27 years. His is a trial and appellate lawyer with the Jackson Walker law firm.
Hogg old voters that he senses their frustration about how the country functions.
"Nobody has a monopoly on good ideas," he said. "We need to have rules in Congress that help people with good ideas have their ideas at least make it to the floor for a vote."
Hogg plans to officially announce his candidacy on Sept. 17 in San Angelo.
After that, he said, "I'm going on a tour," to visit towns and small communities across Texas.
