Boy Scout Troop 39 recognized its 98th Eagle Scout on Sunday.
Caleb Smith, a fourth generation Troop 39 Scout and third generation Troop 39 Eagle Scout, was awarded BSA’s highest honor, the Eagle Scout award.
Starting in Cub Scouts in the first grade, Caleb progressed through his ranks and after earning his Arrow of Light, joined Troop 39 in the fifth grade.
During his Scouting career, he’s served in several leadership roles including Senior Patrol Leader, Vice Chief in the Order of the Arrow and Crew Chief on his second Philmont trek.
For Caleb’s Eagle Scout service project, he led a group of Scouts, family and friends in the revitalization of the Clairette Cemetery, the resting place of many generations of his family.
This 2019 graduate of Stephenville High School departs this week to attend Frank Phillips College in Borger, where he will play baseball and earn a degree in mechanical engineering.
