A 31-year-old man was taken into custody early Saturday morning after a family member called police to report that he had pulled a gun on them during a dispute.

Jeff Sisney was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He is being held at the Erath County Jail on a $40,000 bond.

“(Sisney) has a lengthy criminal history,” said Lt. James Gresham with the Stephenville Police Department. “He has been arrested dozens of times in Arizona and Washington for theft, robbery, assault and resisting arrest.

“I think it’s safe to say he is not a nice guy.”

Saturday’s incident took place about 3 a.m. Saturday when a family member called 9-1-1 from a home in the 1000 block of W. Tarleton Street to report that Sisney had threatened them with a gun.

When police arrived at the scene, they recovered the gun and took Sisney into custody.

The family member has since been granted a protective order.

This is not Sisney’s first arrest in Stephenville.

In July 2018, he was charged with public intoxication, failure to identify and making terroristic threats against a peace officer.
