Four seats on the Stephenville City Council are potentially up for grabs in May when city-wide elections take place.

Three council members - Mark McClinton, place 1, Rhett Harrison, place 5, and Sherry Zachery, place 7 - are up for re-election, and one open seat, place 3, vacated last year by Doug Svien who became mayor, will also be filled.

Responding to a question by the E-T on his intention to seek re-election, McClinton said he is still “undecided.”

“There are many considerations to ponder this election cycle that haven’t existed before,” McClinton said. “I am still working through those questions. Today I will have to declare undecided.”

Harrison and Zachery have not responded to whether they will seek another term, despite the fact that filing for the May 4 election begins Wednesday.

The last day to file for a spot on the ballot is Friday, Feb. 14.

Early voting will be held April 22-30.
