Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council will present a free concert experience featuring two resident artists from The Piatigorsky Foundation. The concert will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at First United Methodist Church Stephenville.

Featured artists are mezzo-soprano Katherine Calcamuggio,  accompanied by pianist Dr. Nicholas Shaneyfelt.

Calcamuggio received top prizes in the Palm Beach Opera, Bel Canto and Shreveport Singer of the Year competitions; and has awards from the Chicago Women’s Musician’s Club and the Anna Sosenko Trust.

Dr. Shaneyfelt recently completed his first summer on the faculty of the International Music Festival of the Adriatic, a summer festival for instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers in Duino, Italy, and is the Visiting Assistant Professor of Music in Collaborative Piano at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

CTFAC Executive Director Whitney Lee said she is excited to work with the Foundation again, bringing world-class performances to the Cross Timbers area.

“The Piatigorsky Foundation is named for Gregor Piatigorsky, who was a highly regarded Russian cellist,” Lee said. “He believed that music and classical music was not a luxury reserved for an elite group but really a necessary part of life.”

Lee said CTFAC is able to present the concert free of charge thanks to annual fundraising efforts, corporate sponsors and membership donations.
