A Dublin man is behind bars following an early morning accident that left another man hospitalized early Tuesday morning.

Nicholas King, 27, has been charged with intoxication assault and is being held at the Erath County Jail.

King is accused of being under the influence of alcohol when he ran over a man who had been traveling with him.

According to a DPS accident report issued by Staff Sgt. Dub Gillum, a trooper responded to the scene of an accident on County Road 401, about a mile north of Lingleville about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The report states that King was traveling east when his 1996 Chevrolet pickup became stuck in mud.

“A passenger in the truck, Tony Onnsy, 27, of Bell Tower, California got out to push the truck,” the report states. “King then ran over Onnsy and severely injured him. King then transported Onnsy to the hospital in Stephenville.”

Intoxication assault is a third-degree felony, punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison.

Bond for King had not been set as of Tuesday afternoon.

King was arrested in 2014 for resisting arrest and in 2016 he was arrested for possession of marijuana.
