The Stephenville Parks and Recreation Department was honored as a Member City of the Year by the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation during Tuesday’s city council meeting.

Honorees are selected by the 165-member cities affiliated with TAAF. Cities are only eligible to receive the award every five years.

SPARD has been a gold or silver award-winning city for 18 of the past 20 years.

“This is an homage to the amount of youth that participate in our programs every year,” said Jennifer Basham, the city’s director of community services. “My personal kudos go out to Cherisa Black and Ashley Snyder for their dedication and passion to serve Stephenville. We are so proud to have them leading the recreation department.”
