The Tarleton State University wind ensemble is set to continue its 2018-19 season with “Inspirations” at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
Tickets are $5 for adults and free for students with a valid Tarleton ID.
Dedicated to “those who inspire us,” the event features guest soloists Dr. Brian Walker, Tarleton instructor of trumpet and associate professor of music, and his student Akira Okamoto, a senior music education major from Frisco. They will perform Kevin McKee’s Under Western Skies for two trumpets and wind ensemble.
Graduate assistant Chris Moix will guest conduct the ensemble with John Barnes Chance’s Elegy. Other concert selections include Scott McAllister’s Popcopy, a homage to 90’s pop culture, featuring the catchphrases “More Cowbell!” and “Serenity Now,” and British composer Gordon Jacob’s band classic An Original Suite.
This concert continues the Tarleton band program’s 100th anniversary. Dr. David Robinson directs. For more information, call Robinson at 254-968-5326.
