Dog lovers, this is for you.

Pets are Worth Saving (PAWS) is hosting a brand new event - “Woofstock” - from 5-9:30 p.m. this evening at Stephenville City Park.

PAWS board member Kaitlyn Ruderer said the event will give dog owners a chance to enjoy some outdoor outdoor fun with their furry companions.

“Woofstock” will feature pet contests (judged by Tarleton’s Purple Poo), a weenie race, kids zone, food trucks and more than 30 vendors.

“There are a lot of people really excited about this,” Ruderer said. “You can’t believe how many have signed up for the weenie dog races. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Attendees will also enjoy live music at the Birdsong Amphitheater. The Cottonwood Crows will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. followed by Larry Joe Taylor at 8.

“It’s a unique event. People can come out and enjoy great food and live music with their pets,” Ruderer said. “We will also have a silent auction.”

Proceeds from the event will be used to replenish the PAWS funds so that the foster-based animal rescue organization can continue caring for injured and abandoned pets.

The group also hopes to use a portion of the proceeds to build a dog park.

For those looking to adopt a new pet, PAWS will also have their dogs available for adoption.
