Stephenville police are searching for the person or persons responsible for shooting four ducks with a blow dart at City Park.

Chief Jason King said the department received several reports from citizens stating that ducks had been seen at the park with darts in them.

“On Friday animal control officers rescued the last of the injured ducks,” King said. “They have received the care they need and have been released back into the park.”

King said the person responsible will face charges of animal cruelty.

“This could be enhanced to a felony,” King said Monday. “We are taking this very serious. It’s awful that someone would do that to any living creature.”

Anyone with information is urged to call Erath County Crime Stoppers at 254-965-CASH or the police department at 918-1200.
