Erath County First Responders are working to keep residents warm this winter.

Responders will be at Tractor Supply from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, accepting blanket and heater donations for Erath county residents.

“We had a fan drive this summer and many residents cried when we delivered the fans,” said Chris Taylor, volunteer responder. “We heard that they were predicting an unusually cold winter so we want to make sure we have supplies on hand to help those who need it.”

According to the Farmers' Almanac, Texas will experience an unusually cold and wet winter. This is an El Nino year and it could possibly bring large amounts of snow.

New blankets and heaters are preferred, but they will accept clean, gently used blankets and heaters that are in good condition. Cash donations will also be accepted.

ECFR has partnered with Erath County United Way and Meals On Wheels to acquire a list of those in need.

If anyone wants to be added to the list, Erath County First Responders can be contacted on their Facebook page.

“It’s an honor for us to be able to support and help the people of Erath County and this is just another way for us to do that,” said Taylor.
