Tarleton State University has brought a new form of deliciousness to Stephenville.

Dunkin' Donuts has opened on campus and there is quite a buzz among the students and staff.

“This is my second time stopping by and so far I have tried the iced coffee, which is excellent,” said student Alexus Rodriguez. "Today I will try a breakfast sandwich. It is so easy to stop in before class and when you have a sweet tooth craving.”

Dunkin' Donuts is based in Canton, Massachusetts and was founded in 1950. It's one of the largest coffee and baked goods chains in the world, with more than 12,000 restaurants in 36 countries, according to Wikipedia.

Dunkin' Donuts opened on the first day of school, and the staff worked hard all summer to get it ready for the fall semester.

“We have been slammed since the first day. The iced coffee orders are out of control and our breakfast sandwiches are more popular than we anticipated,” said employee Betty Jo Turley.

In order to better serve each area, Dunkin' Donuts offers items specific to the region.

“Every month Dunkin' has a new theme, new donut, new sandwich and a flavored coffee," Turley said. "At our location you can get a free coffee after a Dallas Cowboy win and during football season if you get a medium drink it will have the Cowboy’s logo on it.”

“In October we are offering maple bacon sandwiches, maple coffee and maple flavored donuts,” said Lina Betts, marketing lead supervisor.

In a survey taken by Tarleton students, Dunkin' Donuts was voted hands down as the place they most wanted to open on campus.

“We showed our client the student responses and they were happy to give the students something they really wanted. The brand has been great for Tarleton students and we hope to add a Baskin Robbins by next summer,” said general manager Kim Miller.

Dunkin Donuts is located at the front entrance of the dining hall.

“We know this is convenient for students and not the community, but we do deliver,” said Betts.

There will be a grand opening ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 8 a.m. and the public is invited.

Dr. Dottavio will be cutting the red ribbon.
