Tickets to Dancing For the Stars are on sale now. The event will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Tarleton ballrooms. Tickets are $135 and can be purchased by calling 254-485-9391 or from any of the dancers.
This year's event will have a Christmas theme.
This year's team couples include Sheriff Matt and Denys Coates, Dr. Ed and Cristi Dittfurth, Abel and Cayla Limas, Michael and Daniela Garrett and Jim Ed and Kari Haile.
Here are five things to know about Team Haile:
Their professional background
Kari and Jim Ed are both educators. Jim Ed just retired from the Stephenville ISD after teaching for 30 years. Kari started a new career two years ago as a real estate and home stager.
The couple's friends know that dancing has been a big part of their relationship from the beginning. They still enjoy going out with friends to see bands like Jake Hooker and Jody Nix. Jim Ed and Kari also enjoy entertaining their family, friends and their boys' friends at their home. Jim Ed knows his way around a BBQ smoker, and Kari loves to cook and host parties for any occasion.
What they're passionate about
You don't have to spend much time with this couple to discover their passions. They have traveled thousands of miles and spent untold hours watching their boys play sports and supporting the Yellow Jackets. Blankets, stadium seats and cans are staples in both family vehicles.
Separately, they prove that opposites attract! Jim Ed's first love is horses – aside from his family, they are the thing he would find impossible to do without. They provide a competitive outlet and a source of relaxation.
Kari was raised on a farm, but prefers to spend her time away from the ball fields shopping with friends, decorating and cooking. Kari says giving up retail therapy would be a huge sacrifice.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
As long-time educators, the Hailes understand the need for community support of children. Adult circumstances often have a huge impact on young people, and help outside of the family and school district become essential to ensure positive outcomes and success in the face of adversity.
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides the opportunity in Erath County for adults to be a part of the solution.
When presented with the opportunity to help BBBS by doing what they love, (and after receiving the OK from Jim Ed's cardiologist) the Hailes signed on without hesitation.
Why you shouldn't miss Dancing For the Stars
As the oldest of this year's dancers, the Hailes don't take themselves too seriously. Both know that one misstep could lead to instant Facebook fame of the most embarrassing kind. It would be a shame to have to wait for FB video when you can be a part of the fun while helping a fantastic cause.
