The weekend is approaching with some fun happenings in Stephenville and the surrounding area. Make it a good one!

1. Mammal Talk

Bring the kids to Dinosaur Valley State Park and learn about mammals that roam around at an informational talk taking place from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the white tent near the park store. 2. Maternity orientation and tour

If you’re an expecting mother and father, head to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville for a free maternity orientation and tour starting at noon on Friday. Those attending will receive information about parenting, your body and how the hospital can support you through your journey. 3. Tarleton Alumni Association Golf Tournament

If you’re a fan of golf then sign up for the 28th annual Tarleton Alumni Association Golf Tournament kicking off at 9 a.m. Saturday at Sugar Tree Golf Club in Lipan. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., but if golf isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy lunch and participate in the auction. For more information call 254-968-9682.

4. Beat the Bogeyman Hike

Do you know about hiking mistakes that can turn into a nightmares? If not, then head to Dinosaur Valley State Park for its Beat the Bogeyman Hike kicking off at 9 a.m. Saturday at the trailhead parking lot. Participants will learn about common hiking mistakes and hazards, and how to deal with them. Those attending the hike are asked to bring water and hiking shoes. 5. Morgan Mill Ice Cream Freeze Off

Round up the family and head to the Morgan Mill Community Center to enjoy some homemade ice cream, BBQ lunch, live music and door prizes at the annual Morgan Mill Freeze Off taking place from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
