The dairy business can be tough at times.
But Ruurd and Marten Stoker, owners of Triple S Dairy in Erath County, have managed to weather the ups and downs of an often unpredictable industry and thrive.
In fact, the two brothers who first started their dairy with 200 cows in 1987, are now considered the best in the area.
Triple S Dairy was recently named Best of Erath County during an awards gala hosted by the Empire-Tribune.
“It was an honor for sure,” Ruurd said of receiving the award.
The brothers say their dairy is a bit of a “family affair” with the kids pitching in to help.
They also employ four others to help with the milking three times a day and other chores.
The dairy now milks 630 cows.
“I enjoy being self-employed and having the opportunity to work close to home near family,” Ruurd said.
