It was an exciting morning Wednesday when Marion Cole addressed the Erath County commissioners about this year’s Sundown on the Square event.

Sundown on the Square will take place from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in downtown Stephenville.

“We’re expecting this year to be bigger and better than ever,” Cole said. “In the last three years we’ve raised more than $100,000.”

Each year the proceeds benefit renovations at the Stephenville Historical House Museum.

“We had over 100 sponsors last year and without them this wouldn’t happen,” Cole said. “We also have many volunteers and a committee of 20 people and everyone has a job they do to make this happen.”

Sundown on the Square features food, wine tasting, a kids zone, merchants and live entertainment.

“Jody Caudle will start us off and then we will have CB Sutton and Outcast and then our headliner is Asleep at the Wheel, which is really exciting,” Cole said.

Cole said Metta Collier and herself, along with the committee, have been working since January to ensure this year’s event is perfect.

“We thank you for doing this, these things just don’t happen. It takes a lot of work,” said Erath County Judge Tab Thompson. “It’s a wonderful thing to help the museum.”
