Huston Academy is coming off a banner year with improved test scores and 28 recent graduates, but that’s not stopping Superintendent Mike Scott from making plans for the start of the next school year beginning Aug. 15.

In fact, Huston Academy will try something a little innovative in August - a four-day school week.

Classes will be in session from 7:30 a.m. - 4:55 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

“We are looking for a niche and to do something different by creating flexibility for our kids,” Scott said.

To be considered full time, students must have a minimum of four hours of instructional time per day.

Huston Academy will be hosting an informational meeting for prospective students at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 12.

“We plan to have a series of these meetings this summer so students and parents can tour our campus and learn more about us,” Scott said.
