The weekend is approaching with some great local happenings. Make it a good one!

1. Summer Nights Concert Series

Celebrate the start of summer at the Texstar Ford Summer Nights Concert Series kick-off with performances by Scott Kirby and Roger Creager taking place from 8-10 p.m. Thursday at Birdsong Amphitheater in City Park. 2. The Purple Goat to host birthday Bash

Skip making dinner or lunch Friday and to The Purple Goat for its 1st birthday celebration. The Texas-sized bash will include free kids meal vouchers to the first 25 kids in the door, a Kids Zone play area, sand volleyball, corn hole and jumbo Jenga. 3. Essential Oils 101

Learn all there is to know about the benefits of essential oils at a 101 seminar taking place 2-3 p.m. Saturday, at the Stephenville Public Library. 4. Larry Joe Taylor singer/songwriter show

If you’re looking for some more live music this weekend, head out to T-Birds Garage Pub at Melody Mountain Ranch for the free Larry Joe Taylor singer/songwriter show starting at 8 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) Saturday. The concert is open to the public and will feature LJT and Scott Kirby.

5. Knights of Columbus blood drive

Give the gift of life at the Stephenville Knights of Columbus blood drive with Carter BloodCare taking place from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Sunday at Newman Hall. Those who donate blood will be provided a full breakfast. For more information contact Mike Hill at 254-485-9007.
