A little after 3 p.m. Tuesday, Stephenville police arrested a man who fled the scene after the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen out of Georgia.
Christopher Ray Pruitt, 31, eventually surrendered to police when he realized K9 officer Buky was alongside police in the chase to apprehend him.
“Officer Gary Roberts saw a vehicle had committed a traffic violation around Lingleville and Graham streets,” said Stephenville Police Chief Jason King. “A check on the license plate showed it was stolen out of the state of Georgia and when officer Roberts tried to arrest the suspect, he jumped out of the car and took off running. When the suspect realized Buky was chasing him, he gave up and was taken into custody without further incident.”
Pruitt also had a revoke probation warrant and has been booked into the Erath County Jail on a combined bond of $11,000.
