The warm weather is bringing out folks with homegrown and homemade goods, and next Saturday’s Farmer’s Market will feature at least 15 on-site vendors.

The market will be open from 9 a.m.-noon in Stephenville's downtown plaza.

“We have had a great response and the community has been really supportive,” said KayLee Pemberton, president of the Stephenville Downtown Merchants Association. “We have been very blessed with the turnout and we want it to continue to grow.”

Next week’s vendors will include plants, fruits, vegetables, jams and jellies, homemade bath products and baked goods.

“We have the Master Gardeners who show up and they will give out seedlings and information about gardening,” Pemberton said. “The Prairie Oaks Master Naturalists will also be there and they teach you about water conservation and hold different seminars, so they’re very informational.”

Tarleton State University Aquaponics will demonstrate how fish help plants grow and how plants feed fish.

Hambone’s food truck will serve breakfast and sell their special seasonings.

Pemberton is hopeful that with the summer season approaching, more vendors and customers will check out the market.

“Hopefully we’ll have a good market next month and we’re excited to get to do this,” she said. “We love it and it really has been a neat thing to do.”
