For the past two years the Stephenville High School theatre department has hosted a zombie run, but this year students decided to change the theme to Decades Dash, kicking off at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Stephenville City Park.
“The Decades Dash is our fundraiser and it helps pay for our banquet,” said SHS theatre director Mindy Pope. “To make it fun, the varsity students are each taking on a decade and will have stations set up along the (Bosque River) trail. They are responsible for having music playing at their station and so they might be playing The Charleston and dancing while the runners go by.”
Runners will turn around at the Stephenville Historical House Museum and go back to City Park.
“I want to have a time machine portal at the turnaround and have futuristic people there,” Pope said. “It’s something for the runners to see and to make it fun while they’re doing the 5K.”
There will be at least nine stations set up for the event.
The pre-registration fee is $25 and those who pre-register by April 4 are guaranteed a T-shirt. Race day registration will be $30.
To pre-register visit www.racedayeventservices.com or grab a form at the high school and fill it out. A packet pickup will be held from 2-6 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the SHS foyer.
