Before a public information meeting on the Stephenville ISD bond set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gilbert Intermediate, the SISD board of trustees will meet Monday in regular session to tackle a short agenda, which will include discussion of the board election and recognizing students.

Details about the $6.81 million bond will be presented to those interested in attending along with a tour of the facility. A second meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Stephenville High School.

“We’re going to do a third (meeting) with the board and interested community members,” Superintendent Matt Underwood said in a previous interview with the E-T. “I will go over the components of the bond prior to the tour and after I get through with the components I will take some questions.”

The improvements include safety and security, high school additions and renovations, extracurricular expansion, fine arts additions and renovations and career and technology improvements.

SISD currently has information posted online at that features background on the bond and proposed projects.

Early voting on the bond will take place April 31-May 1 and election day is Saturday, May 5.

At Monday’s meeting, the board will recognize two students for displaying the district’s Core Value of Integrity, the SHS Yellow Jacket Band solo and ensemble state qualifiers, All-State band member Emma Clarke and the SHS boys and girls basketball teams.

The board of trustees election will also be a topic of discussion.

Gary Sult will not be seeking re-election for place 1. Dr. Robert Barberee and Dr. Julie Howell have both filed to run for the position.

Lt. Sha King of the Stephenville Police Department has refiled to challenge incumbent Sherrie Evans for place 2.
