Hurrah for Morgan Mill!

The March student of the month is second grader, J.D. Scott.  He lives in Stephenville and has attended Morgan Mill School for one year. Nice kids and teachers drew J.D. to Morgan Mill.

Proud mom and dad are Paula and James. His favorite subject is math and he likes to read “I Survived Books” when he gets home from school. J.D. has three horses and a dog named “Pud.”

Next year, he hopes to show heifers or maybe a pig in the 4-H fair.  In the UIL contest, he competed in chess.  Maybe next year he will win a chess award.  When I asked him why he thought that he was chosen, his comment was, “I get good grades, participate, and don’t get in trouble”.  J.D. hopes to visit grandma and rope during Spring Break.  J.D. has a two-year old sister, Marshyll. Congratulations to J.D. for being a great kid.

What a week, February went out like a lion. The longest time without electricity that I heard was one hundred and twenty hours.  Ten years from now, we will be quoting, “I survived February, 2018.”

Some lessons that I learned were keep mother’s blankets, you never know when you might need them. Be nice to your friends who have big generators.  Don’t always listen to the guys that say your refrigerator will be OK.  When you lying awake at night, between counting your blessings, listen to all the generators in your neighborhood and be thankful.  Run your generator occasionally; you never know when you might need it. The last and above all, BE Nice to YOUR Co-OP.

Breakfast in Morgan Mill is Saturday, March 10.  The first primary elections will be over so we will have the run-off candidates to talk to.  Ricky Koonce and his band of volunteers will be cooking up eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and it is waffle month.  John and Sandy Sandstrom always “treat” us with homemade waffles on the months divided by 3. This tradition is well known and draws a big crowd.  Come and talk weather with your neighbors; starting at 7 until 9.

Morgan Mill School will be out for Spring Break, March 12-16. Community Supper at the Community Center is Thursday, March 15 at 6:30.

Exciting news, we have two new cheerleaders, Camilla Buchanan and Lila Richards.  Stephenville High School has announced their 2018-2019 Freshmen Cheerleaders and Morgan Mill is well represented.  Congratulations to these two girls.
