The results are in and Stephenville High School sophomore trumpet player Emma Clarke will perform with the Texas All-State Band on Saturday, Feb. 17, in San Antonio.

“I’m pretty excited. This is my first time making it to the All-State Band,” Clarke said. “We’re given a new piece to practice and when we get there we have to play that for a chair ranking.”

Clarke practices daily and is not only a member of the marching band, but is also in the high school Jazz Ensemble.

“I was super excited when I heard the news that she was selected to the all-state group. This is a huge accomplishment for her and will be a singular experience," said SHS Director of Bands Michael Childs. "She has put in a great deal of time preparing the audition music and the band staff is extremely proud to have her named to the all-state groups.”

Clarke said the piece of music she received is difficult.

“I’m just going to practice and I’m sure it will be hard, but I’m excited,” she said.

Clarke said her goal is to make state another year or two.

There were 23 Yellow Jacket Band members who auditioned in Argyle last Saturday.
