Local radio station KSTV AM/FM will announce the $10,000 winner of its Shop Local event at 7 p.m. tonight at Stephenville City Park’s Birdsong Amphitheater.

“This second annual event is designed to keep leakage of local shopping dollars from leaving the area and going to the Metroplex,” states a release from KSTV’s Bob Haschke. “The way the promotion works is with participating local businesses giving shoppers a numbered ticket for every $10 spent, up to $1,000, on any daily transaction.”

Last year’s winner was Michael Newton of Gustine who purchased the winning ticket from Texas Car Detail in Dublin.

“The businesses participating will bring all the tickets to the Stephenville City Park and we will draw from that group,” the release states. “The winner must be present to win and they have five minutes to present the winning ticket before another ticket is drawn. We encourage all our local residents who participate to create a spreadsheet of their numbers so it is easy to ascertain whether one of their numbers has been drawn.”

And if you’re worried about the chilly night air, grab a soup sample from the Stephenville Knights of Columbus who will be attending the drawing.

More than 40 local businesses took part in the event this year and specific rules can be found at www.kstvfm.com.

“Good luck and thanks for shopping local this holiday season,” Haschke said. “You might just win $10,000 because of it.”
