If you haven’t already purchased tickets for the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Dancing for the Stars event, you’re in luck.

There are several still up for grabs for next week’s big event featuring five local couples dancing it out for that coveted Mirror Ball Trophy.

“We have five great couples taking part in this year’s event,” said BBBS Regional Executive Director Sarah McNeal-Weaver. “It’s going to be a night to remember and a lot of fun.”

Those couples include Randy and Renee Thompson, Ricky and Brittany Thurman, Monty and Holli Stone, Craig and Amber Parks and Preston and Makayla Hart.

“Our theme this year is ‘Rock this Town,’” Weaver said.

The dancers have chosen their songs and have been practicing routines weekly for months.

“Monty and I are stoked the big night is finally here and we can show off our moves,” said Holli Stone. “Practices have been fun, exciting and exhausting all at the same time. I’ve only had to go to the chiropractor twice with a rib and hip out of place.”

The black-tie event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the Tarleton State University Ballrooms. Tickets are $135 each and include dinner featuring flat iron steak with burgundy wine sauce, cheesecake for dessert and beer, wine and champagne.

“I’m really excited that we are bringing it back this year as a black tie event,” Weaver said. “But I don’t want that to discourage people. Guys can come ‘Stephenville chic’ in starched jeans and a nice shirt, but this is an opportunity for the ladies to dress up in their favorite cocktail dress.”

Last year’s event raised more than $111,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erath County.

“I absolutely love everything about this event and it’s great to see the couples come together and get excited to help the children of our community,” Weaver said.
