Ryan and Nicole Young started their business, Southern Screen & Window, in March of this year, and eight months later, say things are going well.

“I can’t complain,” Ryan said during a recent interview at the E-T office. “We stay busy every day.”

And that’s because there was a real need for that line of work in Stephenville.

Southern Screen & Window does just what the name suggests.

“We install new windows, replace broken windows and fix broken glass,” Ryan said. “We also repair and install new screens on windows and doors.”

Ryan grew up in Arlington and moved to Stephenville in 2004. He and Nicole met while they were attending Tarleton State University and have been married for a little more than a year.

Ryan was working for a local roofing company last year when he noticed a need for window and screen repairs.

“There was really no one around here doing glass and screen repairs,” Ryan said. “Nicole’s family owns a similar business in Killeen so that’s how we got started.”

Today the newlyweds are putting their efforts behind their new business venture and settling in to make Stephenville home.

Nicole is the assistant branch manager at Citizens National Bank and the couple is active in the community.

Ryan even took part - and was named the People’s Choice winner - in this year’s Handsome Hunks of Erath County event, which raised more than $40,000 for Meals on Wheels.

“We love it here,” Ryan said. “The people are great and this is home.”
