A woman suspected of running a prostitution ring inside a massage parlor on Washington Street was taken into custody Monday afternoon in an undercover sting.

Law enforcement officials working with the special crimes unit began investigating the massage business after Stephenville Police Chief Jason King received information that more than massages was taking place there.

“We received information that it was a prostitution ring about a month ago,” King said.

Lt. Don Miller said the business did not have a certificate of occupancy.

The woman taken into custody goes by the name of Coco, but authorities did not know her real name at the time of the arrest.

She was handcuffed by Stephenville police and transported to the Erath County Jail charged with solicitation of prostitution.

“We don’t want this kind of illegal activity happening in the city,” King said.
