For the past seven years bikers travel a scenic 120-miles through Erath County during the Chalk Mountain Fun Run, which will take place again this year on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Chalk Mountain Lodge located on County Rd. 198 off Hwy. 67.

Signups will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be a $20 donation for all bikes and bikers — $10 for passengers — and kickstands will go up at 10:30 a.m.

“Last year we gave out $4,000 in scholarships and also this year we gave out $4,000 in scholarships to former Three Way School students,” said lodge member and event organizer Jerry Hudson. “I think we raised about $850 at the fun run last year and we’ve been able to raise a little more money here and there between the fun run and a catfish fry we did earlier this year. We’ve been really looking to do more.”

Chalk Mountain Lodge members are holding a raffle for a 12-gauge over-and-under shotgun in which the proceeds will go into the lodge’s scholarship fund. Raffle tickets can be purchased during the motorcycle run and from any lodge members.

The gun drawing will take place on Dec. 9.

But that’s not all, there will also be cash drawings at the end of the ride for $100, $50 and $25 along with a chili dog lunch.
