Erath County residents are mobilizing to help their neighbors in the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Harvey and widespread flooding that is expected to continue throughout the week.

Several local efforts are underway to bring relief to this devastated area:

• First Baptist Church Stephenville and Beans & Franks have partnered with Tri-Rivers Baptist Association to collect liquid laundry detergent for a mobile laundry unit that will wash clothes for disaster relief volunteers. Donations can be made at either location through Friday.

• Donations of gas, bleach, canned food, crackers, water, batteries, cleaning supplies, bug spray and rubber gloves can be made at the Graham Street Family Center through noon Wednesday. Arlon Feuerbacher will head to the coast Wednesday night with the donations. For more information on this effort contact Ashleigh at 254-592-5686.

• Texas Legacy Insurance is serving as a drop-off location for tarps, 3-inch screws, rope and building supplies. They are located at 2289 Northwest Loop.

• A community prayer service for the victims of Hurricane Harvey will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church Stephenville.
