Erath County Sheriff Matt Coates and Deputy Cody Keith were at Bluff Dale ISD Monday morning to greet students as they started school for the day.

The meet-and-greet was part of a county-wide effort to familiarize area students with law enforcement personnel.

“We think it’s important for students to know us and feel comfortable with us,” Coates said. “Cody (Keith) will be working with Bluff Dale students once a week.”

Bluff Dale ISD Superintendent Bill Morgan said the students were excited to see the sheriff’s officials on campus.

“They high-fived all the students and the kids loved it,” Morgan said. “The students asked a lot of questions and that’s what we want - we want them to feel comfortable with policemen, DPS and the sheriff’s office - we want them to know they are the good guys who want to help.”

Sheriff’s officials will be working with other schools throughout the county including Three-Way, Morgan Mill, Lingleville and Huckabay ISDs.
