A scam aimed at donors of Foster’s Home for Children is circulating through Erath County.

“Unfortunately there has been a scam recently involving callers supposedly representing Foster’s Home in an effort to gain credit card information over the phone,” said Glenn Newberry, president of Foster’s Home. “These calls are not legitimate and have nothing to do with us. We do not use telemarketers to solicit funds.”

Newberry has contacted the Stephenville Police Department and Erath County Sheriff’s Office to help spread the word. He said the scam began last week and is continuing despite efforts to get it stopped.

“We got another call about it this morning,” Newberry said Monday. “We want people to know this isn’t us and we would never do something like this.”
