Dublin resident Chris Evans wants to become the next state representative of House District 59.
Evans, 39, announced in May that he would challenge current state representative Dr. J.D. Sheffield in the Republican Party primary.
On Monday Evans will host his first official campaign event in Erath County with a meet-and-greet at 7 p.m. in the San Miguel room at the Agave.
“The public is invited to stop by and ask me questions,” Evans said. “I’m hoping to meet as many people as I can.”
Evans owns and operates Stephenville Custom Cabinets and a grave excavation company.
This is his first run for political office.
“I’ve always been interested in politics,” Evans said in a previous interview. “I was raised by conservative Christians and those conservative values are what shaped my life.”
Evans and his wife Sonia live in Dublin with their four daughters. Their three oldest children attend school in Lingleville.
“I’m just a regular guy running for office trying to represent my community,” he said.
