On Friday, 235 Stephenville High School seniors will walk across the stage and step into the next chapter of their lives.

Graduation will kick off at 8 p.m. at Tarleton State University’s Memorial Stadium. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside Tarleton’s Wisdom Gym.

“Graduation is an exciting time. It is both an ending and a beginning: It is warm memories of the past and big dreams for the future,” said SHS Principal Stephanie Traweek. “Seniors, hold fast to your dreams as they may soon become realities. I leave you with words from Dr. Seuss:

‘Oh! The Places You’ll Go!

Congratulations! Today is your day.

You’re off to great places!

You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.

You have feet in your shoes.

You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.

You’re on your own.

And you know what you know.

You are the one who will decide where to go!’

Congratulations SHS Class of 2017.”

Stephenville ISD Superintendent Matt Underwood said he is proud of the graduating class.

"Congratulations to the Class of 2017! Let the amazing successes of this past year serve as building blocks to your future," Underwood said. "We are proud of who you've become over the past 13 years and look forward to greater successes in the future."
