The weekend is here with some great area fundraisers taking place. Show your support, make it a good one, and TGIF!

1. Lenten Fish Fry

Come out for a delicious meal served up by the Knights of Columbus from 5-7 p.m. today when the Lenten Fish Fry kicks off at Newman Hall. The meal will include fish, cole slaw, beans, hushpuppies, french fries, tea and dessert all for just $10; $8 for seniors and children under the age of 12. All take-out orders will be $10. 2. Foster’s Home Auction

Ready to bid on some awesome items while raising funds for a great cause? Get over to Foster’s Home for Children at 6 p.m. today and at 9 a.m. Saturday for the organization’s annual auction event. Tonight will feature a Storage Wars-style “Box Lots” auction and Saturday will feature a live/silent auction with a barbecue lunch. For more information contact Lacy Barton at 254-968-2143.

3. 'Farm to Fork' Fun Run

Come get your sweat on and learn about agriculture when the Tarleton student organization Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) hosts the “Farm to Fork” Fun Run starting at 7:45 a.m. (registration) Saturday at the Tarleton Agriculture Center (intersection of FM 8 and County Rd. 518). The race is for runners of all levels and prizes will be awarded to division winners and participants will receive breakfast and T-shirts. 4. Zonta Club Penny Auction

Get ready for a fun night as the Zonta Club hosts its 20th annual Penny Auction starting at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Stephenville Recreation Hall. The event will feature 15 silent auction items and food and drinks will be available at the concession stand. Proceeds from the event will benefit three Tarleton scholarships, five Stephenville High School and Erath County scholarships, United Way, American Cancer Society, H.O.P.E., Inc., literacy efforts, Toys for Tots, Erath County Junior Livestock Show, Habitat for Humanity, Foster’s Home for Children and other charitable organizations. 5. Music 4 Mutts

If you’re an animal and music lover, then Texas Animal Protector’s Music 4 Mutts is the perfect event for you! The event will kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday at Larry Joe Taylor’s Melody Mountain Ranch and feature LJT himself, Cleto Cordero, Koe Wetzel, Randall King, Kaitlin Butts, Rodney Parker, Jon Young, Buck Fuffalo, Billy Hartman and many more all for $10. Proceeds will go towards TAP’s vet bills.
