1. Tarleton presents “Shrek the Musical”

If you and the kiddos are a fan of the Shrek movies, then don’t miss “Shrek the Musical” presented by the Tarleton State University theatre department from 7:30-9:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday at Clyde H. 2. Harbin VFD Fish Fry 

Show your support for the Harbin Volunteer Fire Department when they host a fish fry from 4:30-7 p.m. Saturday at the Harbin VFD Fire Hall off FM 847. Meal is by donation only and raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each for a chance to win a fire pit from Entrance Outfitters or a gift certificate from Star Arms.

3. Sunday Funday Barrel Race

Catch some high-speed horse action when Lone Star Arena hosts its Sunday Funday Barrel Race event starting at 10 a.m. Sunday. For more information visit

4. Black History Month Celebration

Celebrate Black History Month with Tarleton State University from 3-5 p.m. Sunday in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Theater. The free event will feature gospel and spirituals performed by the Tarleton Chamber Choir with special guests NaGuanda Nobles and Reginal Wright. A reception will follow the performance.

5. Central Texas Wedding Expo

Planning a wedding? Get some tips and tricks and enjoy a bridal party fashion show at the 7th annual Central Texas Wedding Expo from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Tarleton State University’s Barry B. Thompson Student Center. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids 12 and under. Don’t miss your chance to win prizes as well, including a free wedding.
