The Stephenville Knights of Columbus begin their annual Lenten Fish Fry Friday, March 3, at Newman Hall.

As part of this year’s weekly event, the Knights are introducing a “40 Cans for Lent Campaign.”

The community is invited to contribute one can of food for each of the 40 days of Lent. Collected food will be distributed to local pantries for immediate use and to replenish depleted supplies from the recent holidays.

Donations will be accepted at the Friday fish fries at Newman Hall, at St. Brendan’s and St. Mary’s churches, and at KSTV.

The weekly event will run from 5-7 p.m. Fridays through April 7.

The meal will consist of fish, cole slaw, beans, hushpuppies, French fries, tea, and dessert.

Prices this year are $8 for seniors and children under 12 and $10 for everyone else. That is for all you can eat.

Take-out service is available by calling 965-5693. Orders may be picked up at the back of Newman Hall on Centennial Street. All take-out orders are $10 per plates.

Local organizations benefiting from part of the proceeds each week include:

March 3 — Stephenville Senior Citizens Association

March 10 — TREAT

March 17 — H.O.P.E.

March 24 — CHOICES Clinic and Life Resource Center

March 31 — Dublin Senior Citizens

April 7 — Sacred Heart Church Building Fund (Comanche).
