For those unfamiliar with the behind-the-scenes workings at Tarleton's Dining Hall, most services there are provided by Sodexo, an international food service provider for select cafes and dining halls, particularly on college and university campuses.
Each spring and fall, a dozen Sodexo chefs from all over the world converge on the United States and tour various dining facilities in which the company provides food service as part of the Sodexo Global Chef Program.
According to information from Sodexo employee, Amber Lewis, “Spanish chef Fernando Gonzalez Garcia will be at The Dining Hall on February 14 and 15 to share his talents and Spanish cuisine.“
As Lewis explains, “It’s a chance to sample authentic Spanish food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on those days, and this is open is open to the public, in fact, we always are. You don’t have to be a Tarleton student, faculty member or anything like that — people can just walk in and dine as they do at any restaurant.”
Lewis continues, “We’d love to have as many people come and try Chef Fernando Gonzalez Garcia’s great cooking and we’re expecting a large crowd.”
From the bio of Chef Fernando Gonzalez Garcia: “Chef Garcia was born in Madrid, Spain and since early on in his childhood he was sure that he wanted to become a chef. He has worked in the best restaurants in Madrid since he was eighteen years old and is now a cutting-edge chef and part of the Sodexo Global Chef Program.”
By the way, to get an idea of Sodexo’s reach, the company is based in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, has over 400,000 employees and reported 9.2 billion in revenues last year.
