Plan ahead for a unique splash of fun at Dinosaur Valley State Park to bring in the new year.

The first-ever Dinosaur Dive is set for Sunday, Jan. 1, when participants can dress up in their favorite costume for a costume contest – and take a brave dive into the chilly water of the Paluxy River.

The purpose is to raise money for new bicycle racks and more outdoor seating at the park.

The cost is $15. That includes the dive, a gift bag, family activities, food and drinks.

Remember to bring towels and warm clothes to change into after the dive.

The day’s schedule includes: 10 a.m. – First day hikes (beginner and advanced hikers); noon – food, activities and sign-up for the dive; 12:45 p.m. – costume contest; 1 p.m. – Dinosaur Dive (with hot chocolate and fire to warm up afterward).
